Music Channel Research

As I am creating a music video as part of my A2 coursework, I am now going to do some research into different music channels. This will then let me decide on what music channel my music video would appear on. There are many different music channels I could research that would be used for my music video as many previous Taylor Swift videos have appeared on various different channels, such as viva, the box, 4music, mtv & smash hits.

Carrying on with practice editing

In todays lesson, I carried on editing some of my footage togther to form a practice version of my music video. The footage I used was from my previous film shoot with various shots of both my characters together and also of my artist doing some more lip syncing. As it is now the Christmas holidays I will carry on editing after the holidays and may also do some more filming during the holidays to ensure I have spare footage to use if something doesnt work.

Filming 13th December

I have now completed my filming shoot tonight, this involved both my actors. I firstly began filming just my female actress lip syncing to the second verse and also part of the first verse. My male character then arrived and I began to film both of them for my main chorus. This was various shots of them two arguing and then 'kissing' to make up. I did many different shots I can experiment with and also think the lighting worked very well. I then also record a few mintues of them talking about what we have filmed today, I will then edit this into a video to upload onto my blog for part of my research.

Practicing editing together some of my footage

Today, I began to edit some of my footage together to begin my music video. This included some of my lip syncing which I found very easy to put together with the track. From practicing putting my footage together I now also know what other footage I will need to film. I am going to try film most of this in tonights filming shoot. I will then upload the footage tomorrow and carry on practicing putting some of my shots togther to see which will work best.

Next Filming Shoot

I have now arranged with both of my characters to film Tuesday 13th after school. I will begin filming straight from school and get them to bring costumes with them as they will already be in school uniform (business wear) I will allow them time to get changed before we go to the filming location. The filming location I am going to use for my main chorus is outside, I will also do some aspects of lip syncing of my artist outside but then the rest of it will be in an inside location. In this time I plan to film all of my chorus, lip syncing for the second verse and the final verse of my artist.

My Final CD Digipak Design

After getting feedback from an audience I have now decided to make some changes to my CD digipak front and back cover. I have only made a few small changes with font sizes and colour. I have decided to change the album title to a bright colour so it stands out, the colour I chose was red as this colour is a really bold colour. I have changed this on the front cover and the spine. However, I decided to keep the artists name in black. I have then also moved the track listing to the middle of the back cover and also used the colours black and red, it is now easier to read.

I have now also finished my inside cover, which includes images of my artist and with the artists name representing her autograph. I have used the same colour scheme throughout my whole digipak showing the images in black and white and showing aspects of red.

Audience Feedback on My Final CD Digipak Design

Today I am going to carry out some audience feedback for my cd digipak design. I am going to show five people my desgin I get them to answer two questions. One being what they like about my design and the other being what I could improve on.

The five people I asked were:
  1. Ellie Markie
  2. Chelsea Wilkie
  3. Chloe Robinson
  4. Sunil Singh
  5. Liam Copeland
The feedback I recieved were quite similar as everyone seemed to like the same.
Ellie Markie said 'it is very creative, the editing is really skilled' and the thing she would like to change is to add some colour.
Chelsea said 'I like the front cover its creative, but could move song titles more to the right'.
Chloe said she likes the heart at the front with the writing in the middle, but could move song titles to the middle.
Sunil said that he likes the black and white effect and the 2 hands forming a heart. But he also thinks the font type of track listing is unreadable.
Liam then said that he likes the depth of the photo on the left (the path) and he likes the text on front cover and the shadow. However, he thinks I should change the album title to a bright colour.

Importing Track to Final Cut

Today I am going to import my song 'Taylor Swift- And Thats The Way I Loved You' to final cut. I am doing this so after christmas I will be ready to begin editing my music video as the song will already be imported to final cut. I will then also save this project as My Music Video.

Planning next filming shoot

I am planning to finish filming footage for my music video one day next week after school. I will need both characters for this footage so I will need to arrange a date they can both do. As I can not do Wednesdays due to working, I will be able to any other day. One of my characters have already said Tuesday is a possible day for her so I now need to check with my other character. During this filming shoot I will need to film my final lip syncing scenes of just my artist on her own. I then need to film both characters for the main chorus scene. This will all be filmed in my outside locations as it will benefit the lyrics to the song. Also as one of my lyrics is 'it's 2am and I'm cursing your name' I will need to film when it is quite dark, this is good as it starts to get dark early, so I will film around 4pm. However, I will need to film my artist lip syncing when it is light so I will do this straight after school. I also need to film my artist lip syncing the last verse indoors while tearing up photographs of the couple, this can be done after my outside film shoot.

My Final CD Digipak

Front & Back Cover

More Photography

Today I took some more photos for my CD digipak. These photos will be used for my front cover of my CD digipak as the ones I have already taken are for the back cover and the inside. The photos I took today are off two hands in the shape of a love heart (as shown on my practice one) I think these photos worked well as I took a few showing a shadow which make the photo look more effect and professional. The others looked too dull without the shadow.
